Spent morning talking to Eric Kabera - went to visit Hillywood and to see the building for the new Film School which made some progress since last year. Eric and I spoke about videographers and training among other things. He gave me a copy of his latest documentary he did with Nick Hughes - ISETA - which is about the roadblock footage which Nick Hughes shot in April 1994 - the only footage in existence of actual killings during the genocide. (Watched the documentary - it is harrowing - it is Nick Hughes return to Rwanda in 2007 to show the footage and find survivors, relatives of those slain and perpetrators).
Afternoon spent at KMC talking to various staff or volunteers who are from the UK working there. There is one staff member - her name is Karen and guess what - she is from LA. I was not the only Karen from LA.
Dinner was with Madudu's best friend Yvette who had spent the previous two years in Sweden. She returned to Rwanda in March and is working for an American organization called Orphans in Rwanda - they provide scholarships for orphans to go to university. They also support them by providing workshops on a number of skills, and support them by providing them housing and food and so on.
