Leaving the Kigali airport was fairly smooth except for the two power outages we experienced at the airport. It happened while checking in to get my boarding pass - the entire building went pitch black except the computer screens seemed to stay lit - back-up generators I guess - and the outages only lasted a few moments each. No big deal.
The flight from Kigali to Brussels was quite interesting. Met two gentlemen who were very interested in the work of collecting testimonies in a systematic way for historical documentation, research and commemoration. One was a Professor of Medicine from NYU who was in Kigali in July 1994(!)and the other an airline executive married to a survivor.
The flight stopped in Entebbe, where the crew changed and the aircraft cabins were sprayed with a pesticide while we stayed on board. Did not much care for that and I am not alone there - just google 'pesticide spraying in airlines'.
Arrived in Brussels early morning and then connected to Frankfurt. A few family days ahead before I am off to Berlin for a few days.
